KMOP was just awarded with a new EU funded project in Macedonia, “Building stronger local networks to enhance Roma child rights protection”. This is a 3-year project, which will be implemented in cooperation with Roma Resource Center (MK).
The objective of this project is to support the existing local coordination mechanisms and structures mandated to promote integration of Roma children. Support will be provided especially to Local Coordinative Bodies in advancing their capacity to fulfill their role, aiming at the protection of Roma children in line with the national and EU policy framework. The project will also support and promote the involvement of civil society and especially Roma CSOs in policy creation and implementation of initiatives aiming at protecting the rights of Roma children and in programming and monitoring key reforms in the area of Roma child rights protection at local level. Moreover, through the project, the awareness of local communities and stakeholders about the rights of Roma children and the role of civil society in promoting the rights of Roma children will be increased, leading to improved local policy-making and action planning, and increased understanding and participation of the whole community in initiatives and measures for the protection of Roma children rights.
